It is one of the most pivotal times in a person’s life. It’s that unique moment when children are neither kids nor adults—when two worlds, childhood and adulthood. This transitional period is when a person’s true personality begins to take shape. Ten years from now, much of childhood will be a distant memory, but the feelings and moments from this time will still live on, marking a significant chapter in their life.
Hobbies are the building blocks of an adult personality.
Creating the best senior portraits involves capturing as many facets of their current life as possible. This phase of life is full of experiences that will become the building blocks of their adult personality.
Whether it’s their favorite book, sport, clothing item, place, or musical instrument, I love to incorporate these elements into the shoot. It’s important to show the things that define who they are right now, as they’ll help tell a richer and more meaningful story in their portraits.
Two parts of a senior photo session: in studio and on location.
For me, a well-rounded senior photo session has two parts: The first part takes place in the studio, and the second part involves clean, minimalist portraits.
The second part is outdoors at Willow Fork Park in Katy, TX, just next to the studio. This park offers so many beautiful, serene spots that add a natural, peaceful touch to the photos, showcasing a more relaxed, personal side of the senior.
Add a complimentary Linked In photo to your senior photo shoot.
During the shoot, I also make sure to create some professional-looking photos that can be used for a LinkedIn profile. This is a great time to encourage students to start building their online presence. Sharing interesting topics, research, and achievements during their college years will help them establish a professional profile early on.
More equal, trusting bond with parents.
For parents, this time is especially memorable. It marks the moment when the relationship with their child begins to shift to a more equal, trusting bond. It’s a time to reflect on the journey and see the beauty of the character that has formed, in part, because of all those sleepless nights and hard work invested in raising them.
If you're looking to capture these precious moments, I encourage you to consider senior portraits at Candy Fox Photo Studio in Katy. It’s not just a photo shoot; it’s a chance to create lasting memories that will be treasured for years to come.
